There is an apparently serious discussion of a coming wipe on the PS forums, started by the settings head who has stated that the devs want this. While can't know what a wipe will look like, it seems clear that one will occur eventually, possibly as soon as the next release.  It has been suggested that the database will be reset.  I.e. All characters, guilds, items, etc. will be deleted.  So, what will we do should this happen?

a) Give up. -- Seriously?!

b) Rebuild your characters. Recreate the guild. Continue with maybe less items, but more imagination.

In all the time I have been in Hydlaa there hasn't been a full wipe just many threats so it will happen at some point. Maybe.

It's sounding a little more serious this time.  Personally, I can't see rebuilding an existing character.  It doesn't make sense from a role-playing perspective.  Xarthen (as an example) has a history, and an identity based on his skills and activities.  A character starting from scratch would necessarily not be the same character.  Also, there's no way I'm doing all that grinding again.  I will start another character, but Xarthen will be dead, struck down by the gods or whatever other explanation we come up with to explain why the world has been emptied of all the people we knew.

In terms of the guild, we will have a few issues to think about.  We'd need to restart it, of course.  But who are the members, really: the characters, or the players?  Will the new characters have the same ranks as the old ones, or start over?  What areas will they study and teach in?  My new character won't have Xarthen's magic skills, for example, and therefore won't have his ability to research magic either.

This has been in debate for a very long time now. It will eventually happen at some point, but as far as I know, the time to do this was set to the time it comes out of Alpha stage. Version 1.0.0.

Since we're still all Testers, in principle, they actually have every right to wipe the entire DB at any time. But it would not apply to the character database (accounts, characternames, races) yet will affect everything else. (Quests, items, trias, guilds).

In any case, what is lost, will be quickly rebuilt.

Friends and GuildMates~
So I wonder how you have fared with the quest wipe and the other changes ig?
Roled just re-achieved access to the Winch yesterday- so in 6 weeks I was able to complete as many quests as I did
in the first year and a half of playing. It helps when you know the map...and can run for a long time!

The re-balancing of loot vs pps has been difficult on RR's character arc- he has had to kill many many more rogues and
cutthroats then before. This is difficult for his sense of peace and his attraction to Xiosia, but he has rationalized it by
ridding Ylikum of some of the overabundance of robbers and criminals, a re=balancing of the forces of good and evil. It is still hard for him
to philosophically come to resolution over the need to kill more and more often to earn the right to study Crystal Way so he can become
a master healer some day. Paradox. Irony.

Since we didn't loose any of our core strength-agilty-intellect stats, Roled is even stronger and more skilled. Plus he's made it to 58 in
Crystal Way, and from 20-30 in all other magicks, excepting dark way which he doesn't like and only trains when he's in the DR- and then
only against poison carackass' and wrathrats. He really really wishes some of his teachers were around when he is up and about
{which of course I know is because I'm GMT-8 so you're all sleeping when I'm here and I'm working when you're here.} HE's even up
to 40 in sword, much to his own chagrin, and has quite a collection of ancient, enlightenment, bones, fire and variously encrusted blades.

Roled has been involved in longterm and intricate stories especially with the Daughters of Xiosia, and with other rps continuing with the KlylosJuction, some of the new
Alliance guild members, and others. He's been spending alot of time running back and forth to the Doors and training. And he was blessed
with Xiosia's special blessing and his calling to serve Xiosia as a healing magician has been deepened by Her gift.

That's what's up with Roled. Where are all you guys? What are you all up to?

Thankee
Roled Rolak
a cognate still!
